American Airlines Gate Integration Project (2015-2018)
Currier & Company served as the prime engineer for the American Airlines Gate Integration Project, which included:
• re-gating (aircraft parking positions and striping) of 45 gates,
• relocation/installation of 9 passenger boarding bridges,
• modification/installation of 8 walkways,
• installation of 11 new hydrant pits,
• deactivation of 31 existing hydrant pits, and
• the activation of 3 existing hydrant pits.
In addition, Currier developed hydrant system isolation plans and coordinated all hydrant system modifications with the changeover point, airport operations, the AFFC, Swissport and the project owner. Subsequent to the design phase, Currier also provided permitting support and construction administration services throughout the project.
As a result of Currier’s project programming, Currier was able to value engineer the project to reduce the number of passenger boarding bridge relocations required, minimize the number of gates taken out of operation during the construction and minimize the quantity of new hydrant pits installed, which resulted in a direct project savings to the owner. During the construction phase, Currier re-phased the project to gain synergies with the City’s ASR project, which further minimized the total number of gate closures and impacts on the owner’s ongoing operation.
